Dr Mark Downs CBiol FRSB, chief executive of the RSB, has joined the board of trustees for the Campaign for Science and Engineering (CaSE).

The appointment was announced at this year’s CaSE AGM, during which Dr Bob Sorrell was also announced as the new chair of the board.

The CaSE Board helps to set the strategic direction of CaSE and oversee governance and financial management of the organisation.

CaSE is a leading independent advocate for science and engineering. Their mission is to ensure that the UK has the skills, funding and policies to enable science and engineering to thrive, and the organisation represents over 115 scientific organisations including businesses, universities, professional bodies, and research charities as well as individual scientists and engineers.

The RSB has been a member of and worked closely with CaSE since its formation.

Dr Mark Downs said of the appointment: "The RSB has a long standing and productive relationship with CaSE and I am delighted to have the opportunity to work more closely with their talented and influential staff and board.”
