A guided tour of Arne RSPB Nature Reserve in Dorset.

Arne is best known for its birds, but it is also one of the few places in the UK where all six of the UKs native reptiles can be found. Situated on Poole Harbour, the landscape is a mix of open heathland and ancient oak woodland. Birds such as the spoonbill, the dartford warbler and nightjars are seen regularly and, in October, large flocks of waders including avocet gather. There may also be the opportunity to see species such as osprey as they head south for the winter.

Attendees will learn and observe the wildlife and birds and understand their habitats and the effects of climate change.

For more information, please visit the RSPB website

Please note: Lunch will not be provided. Attendees will have the option of pre-ordering food at the café on arrival.

The group will meet  at 10:00, ready for the tour to begin at 10:30. Walking will be rough underfoot so suitable footwear is advised. There is no shelter on the reserve and so appropriate clothing is advised. There is a café, however there will not be an opportunity to visit until the tour is over so attendees are advised to bring water and snacks.

Once the tour is over, attendees are free to explore the reserve as they wish.

Parking

Parking is free for RSPB members, and £5 for non-RSPB members. For more information, please visit the RSPB website
